Beat-Herder 2023 headliners announced as Pendulum, Alison Goldfrapp and Confidence Man

Pendullum, Alison Goldfrapp and Confidence Man will be among the headliners at this year's Beat-Herder festival.

Billed as the weirdest, wildest and most joyous party in the UK festival calendar, Beat-Herder boasts more than 20 whimsical stages, world-class DJs, live acts and comedians.

It will throw open its doors in Lancashire's Ribble Valley on Thursday July 13, for an additional day of unbridled revelry, for those lucky enough to hold limited four-day tickets.

Having started in 1998 as a free DIY party, Beat-Herder is now a fully established festival but it has retained its and reputation as one of the friendliest around.

Thursday’s line-up is a mashup of global icons, emerging talent and party starters.

Heading up the Toil Trees, Beat-Herder’s spiritual heartland in the woods, is UK electronic music institution Eats Everything and Scottish DJ/production duo LF System.

Dundee’s Hannah Laing will bring her high energy, bouncy techno with a hint of trance alongside house music legends K-Klass .

Afro-psychedelic future pop DJs, BCUC from Soweto, South Africa, are the live headline act in Trash Manor, while Bristol hip-hop artist Dr Syntax leads the charge at Smoky Tentacles .

All the venues on the Street will be live and pumping for those seeking drum and bass and jungle beats, including The Garage, Julie’s Barn, Hotel California, and the famous Parish Church .

Into the main weekend, headlining the Beat-Herder stage this year is one of the biggest electronic outfits of all time, Pendulum, the drum and bass rock band from Australia.

Also appearing is iconic Goldfrapp singer, songwriter and producer Alison Goldfrapp, who launched her solo career in 2023.

She is joined by one of the hottest acts on the planet right now, portable party Confidence Man, whose new album TILT was named by MOJO as “the feel-good hit album of 2022”.

Bradford trio Bad Boy Chiller Crew take influence from the ‘bassline house’ clubbing heritage they grew up with in northern England and pair it with emergent UK rap.

British drum and bass DJ Wilkinson is also on the line-up along with electro-dance-pop star DJ Piri and viral hitmaker leading the British drum and bass renaissance, Venbee.

Beat-Herder regulars Dub Pistols will return to the bill, MC Gardna, Jungle Brothers, Horace Andy and Dub Asante Band.

Also announced is Peter Hook and The Light, formed by the legendary former Joy Division and New Order bassist. High-energy 12-piece jazz hip-hop outfit Renegade Brass Band will be there too.

Also confirmed for the Toil Trees stage are Skream, Ewan McVicar, Gerd Janson, Obskur, Sherelle, Shermanology, Cici, DJ, Jaguar and Sarah Story.

The Fortress, a looming corrugated iron construction, will play host to I.JORDAN, Benny Page, Tall Paul, Phibes, Slipmatt and TAAHLIA.

Reflecting the Ribble Valley’s mystic heritage, The Ring, a 100-foot diameter earth mound accessed via a giant Stonehenge-style entrance, will see Utah Saints, My Nu Leng and Dread MC and Cloonee performing.

Multi-award-winning Friction will joins forces with MC Linguistics for a headline set.

Joining them is the A.Skillz, Harriet Jaxxon and Charlie Tee.

At Trash Manor, Stanton Warriors, Dutty Moonshine, DJ Paulette and Tarzsa will all perform.
