Ben Stiller was haunted over not repairing feud with Joan Rivers before she died
Ben Stiller could not make amends with a legendary American comedian, Joan Rivers, which still haunted him after her death.
The 58-year-old Hollywood icon Ben Stiller comes from a family of artists and actresses who were no strangers to the silver screen. His father Jerry Stiller was a renowned comedian and his mother, Anne Meara was an actress. As industry veterans, his parents enjoyed friendships with some of the most famous stars of their generation but little did Ben know that one such close-knit friendship of her parents with actress Joan Rivers would cause a prolonged miscommunication between him and the Grammy-award-winning celebrity.
Ben Stiller’s feud with Joan Rivers was unintentional
Almost a year after Joan Rivers’ demise, Ben Stiller opened up about his unfortunate feud with the TV star which was unintentional.
When a radio show host nudged him saying: “She thought you didn’t like her,” The Night at the Museum star clarified: “I never had an interaction with her.”
As it turns out, Joan was close friends with Ben’s parents but was annoyed about the fact that he never said ‘hello’ to her, radio host Howard Stern claimed while interviewing Stiller.
The movie star agreed with Stern’s view at the time adding: “I don’t remember that happening but I’m sure it did
“Then I heard there was a documentary or something, and they said, ‘What do you think of Ben Stiller?’ [Rivers said], ‘Lucky.’ … Then, the beef started.”
Ben Stiller regrets not being able to ‘work it out’
Ben Still never knew the reason behind why Joan Rivers did not like him, but he regrets not making amends in time.
The Greenberg actor was candid about his feelings after hearing about her death: “She was great. I feel bad that we never got to work that out. … My parents were really friends with her and spent a lot of time and worked together with her, and she had an amazing career.”
Joan Rivers passed away in September 2014. The beloved funny star died from anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest, according to the coroner. It’s when a person suffers brain damage due to a lack of oxygen.
The 81-year-old died days after she stopped breathing during a routine endoscopy.
